Getting Your Ex Back While Focusing on You

If you have been dumped, you want to get your ex back. Breakups are not unusual within our modern times. This does not mean that breakups are a fun thing to deal with. You cringed when you heard those four dreaded words of “we need to talk”. You sat there as an adult and you listened to your significant other as they relayed to you their feelings and emotions. Your heart sank as your significant other stated they wanted to leave the relationship. In situation like this, all you can think about is getting your ex back.

Wow, they dumped me

Now, you are faced with being alone and wondering where things went wrong. You break out the ice cream and the sappy romantic comedies but nothing seems to help. You enlist the aid of friends but even though your friends have great intentions, they only have made you feel worse about the situation and have offered no real advice on getting your ex back.

The shock stage

What can you do at this point? There are many things, which you could do. You could whine and cry while begging your ex to come back to you or you could incessantly talk about your ex to all your friends who will listen. I must inform you that neither of these will work. Begging and crying to your ex will only make you appear weak and not in control of your emotions. No matter your honest intentions, you will not get your ex back. Your friends will eventually get tired of hearing about your ex and will disappear until you have gotten yourself through this ordeal. This does not mean that your friends do not care about you but let us face the fact that even friends get tired of hearing the same ole thing repeatedly.

Focus on the hurt

The experts give loads of advice on what to do during this period but what I would like to do is focus on the hurt of the situation. If you do not focus on yourself during this period, there is no possible way you will ever get your ex back. You have to be in control of your life as compared to a spinning wheel continually turning out of control.

Take control of your life and emotions

It is obvious you are hurting and you must get through the hurt in order to focus on getting your ex back. This is a true stepping-stone, which all must face if they truly want their ex back. You can focus on your hurt by talking with select friends or someone you trust. You can become involved in activities or causes, which will aid you in feeling good about yourself. I have always recommended to those who are hurting emotionally to volunteer at a local hospital. Performing something such as this is great because it allows people to understand that there are people out within our world who are far worse off than we are, even when suffering the loss of an ex. If you truly want your ex back, make sure you have embraced your hurt and have forgiven your ex otherwise, your efforts will prove futile in trying to get your ex back.

Why is getting your ex back so important to you? Because a good relationship is one of the most treasured of human interactions. We all want to be loved. There are the great times together, the shared dreams and visions, the mutual likes and dislikes and more. Great relationships are essential for enjoying a good quality of life. They color everything else around us.
